Can’t get enough of yourself in the mirror? Do you even skip meals just to play with your play station? Have you wished to be a game character model? If you answered YES – YES - YES, then YES! The EYETOY is the one for you! Sony EyeToy will help you realize your dream of being a cast in your own game! This device was created for Playstation 2 and PSP. Dr. Richard Marks invented EyeToy. He first developed the idea of connecting the webcam to a Playstation and planned on using it for games. It basically works like a webcam that copy cats you and turns you into the world of gaming. This colored digicam gadget uses computer vision to allow you as a “player” to interact with the games. It uses color detection, motion and sound. The sound is transmitted through the microphone built in it. Logitech, being the master for webcams, partnered with Sony and manufactured the camera.

Power consumption of this peripheral is 50 mA and dimensions are 44 x 53 x 89. It weighs 173 grams and has a cable length of 2 meters. The resolution is 640 x 480 pixels. The EyeToy is designed to be placed on top of the television or console. You can position it the way youwant, capturing the angle you prefer. You may also focus the camera by rotating the ring on the lens. The blue light in the EyeToy is an indicator that the PS2 or PSP is on and are both ready to be used. The red light will flash if there is lack of light. This device is dependent on the light that aids in capturing the player’s image.

Here’s more information from the new Sony EyeToy, you can even use your EyeToy as a webcam to connect to your desktop or laptop. Since EyeToy can be connected using USB plug, drivers are available so your EyeToy model can be compatible to the operating system of your computer. It can also be used to shoot movies and video messaging. You can even have your personal avatar uploaded to your playstation. The system of Cameo lets the player upload their own image and use it as an avatar in games. The program scans the head of the player and will create a 3D head model that can later be saved on a memory card.

Now, come on and let’s go get ourselves into the world of game!
